Archery Australia (AA) is the governing body for all levels of archery throughout Australia and a recognised member of World Archery and the Australian Sports Commission.

Archery is a sport for all, for life. AA is committed to raising the profile of archery, increasing participation, and supporting the archery community to access, enjoy, contribute and succeed across all levels of the sport.

The Archery Australia High Performance Program is a collaboration between Archery Australia, Australian Institute of Sport and State National Institution Network (NIN) partners and is focused on maximising medal outcomes at identified international events including the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

About the role

The Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement (AW&E) Lead will drive the implementation of AA’s Wellbeing Operational Plan, supporting the holistic development of athletes in high performance environments.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with both Able-bodied and Para athletes as we enter a new Olympic/Paralympic cycle, empowering them to balance wellbeing, personal growth, and professional development while pursuing world-class performance.

Reporting to the General Manager Performance, responsibilities will include;

  • Leading and implementing of the AA Wellbeing Operational Plan aligned with the High Performance Strategy.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive wellbeing education framework for Able-boded and Para athletes across a decentralised program.
  • Develop and monitor individual wellbeing plans through regular reviews with athletes, coaches and support staff, balancing performance goals with career, education, and personal development.
  • Influence high-performance decision-making by advising on athlete wellbeing at a strategic and operational level.
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of wellbeing, mental health, and social issues impacting high-performance athletes.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external networks, ensuring athletes have access to suitable support services and resources.

About you

We are seeking a genuine and passionate individual with the ability to build trust and deliver impactful wellbeing initiatives in a high performance environment.

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications or experience in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, education counselling).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing long-term strategies or learning frameworks.
  • Case management and individualised support, including triage and referral processes.
  • Knowledge of emerging issues for athletes and an ability to provide proactive programs to address these issues.
  • Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive meaningful outcomes.
  • A genuine passion for empowering individuals to thrive and develop.

Position location

Archery Australia is flexible on location within Australia, with expected travel to camps and Centre of Excellence in Canberra.
