National Volunteer Week | Judges
When officials step into competition, judging is a chance to contribute to archery in a way that supports fairness, consistency and integrity at every level of competition. Judges bring knowledge of the rules, measured decision-making and a calm presence in high-pressure moments.
It was a natural progression for 2 time national record holder for her age group, Shirley Biggs who is a National Judge. “I wanted to give something back to the sport and decided to become a National Judge. I have been president of my club and have run many State and National events”
Shirley demonstrates the many ways to get involved with archery. Thank you judges for the professionalism and care you bring to the field. Your work helps ensure our sport is fair, safe and respected at every level.
#NationalVolunteerWeek #3cheersforvolunteers
It`s volunteer’s week and we are so pleased to put the spotlight on our volunteers for the time and dedication they give to the sport of archery. Whether it’s coaching, judging, organising events or helping behind the scenes in other ways.
This week, we will be sharing the different roles volunteers have in archery and the role they play in the sport.
Acknowledging the hard work and dedication of our volunteers is an area close to AA chair Rob Fiddyment’s heart:
"Our volunteers are central to the strength and sustainability of the sport of Archery; their contribution reflects the very best of our community. This National Volunteer Week, we honour the people whose dedication keeps Archery Australia on target for the future!”
If you know a great volunteer, then head to the Volunteers Map and give 3 cheers for a volunteer and share a story about what volunteering means to you to help celebrate the week - Link in bio.
Thank you to every volunteer across our community for helping make such a difference in our sport!

here`s something special about sharing a sport that brings every generation together.
This International Day of Families, we`re celebrating the parents, grandparents, kids, and siblings who step up to the shooting line side by side.
Archery is a sport for all ages and abilities: accessible enough for beginners, challenging enough to keep you coming back, and best of all, something the whole family can enjoy together.
Looking for a new way to spend quality time with your loved ones?
Find your local club and come give archery a try - Link to come and try archery in bio.
