My name is Giorgio Vasiliades, I live in Sydney and shoot at Sydney Olympic Park Archers. I am now 19 years old and have shot recurve archery since I was 8. I was inspired to start archery in 2013 when I saw a recurve bow on my godfather’s wall and wanted to give it a try. I’ve been shooting ever since!

I competed in my first National Youths at Penrith City Archers in 2015 which was a great experience and close to home. The next year I unexpectedly won my first National Youth medal, bronze in the short distance event. The year after I competed at the National Youth Champs in Morwell, Twin City Archers where I won a couple silvers medals as well as my first National Youth gold medal. Winning my first gold medal at the National Youths in 2017 was one of my favourite moments in archery, and I hope to one day beat it by winning a medal at the Olympic Games.

In 2019 I had one of my most successful years as a youth archer. At the 2019 National Youth Championships in Armidale, I won gold in both the short distance and target events while also breaking National Championship and Tournament records, making for an awesome year.

I’m currently still a National Youth record holder and have won multiple youth state and national medals. I’m also an NSWIS athlete and on the Archery Australia National Development Squad. I also recently competed in the biggest event I’ve participated in to date: World Archery Youth Championships (WAYC – Limerick, Ireland).

Moving forward I will continue to improve and become the best I can be in the sport of archery. I aspire to compete in the Olympic Games and win a medal, as well as win medals at other major international events.
