Olympic and Paralympic funding Boost for Archery Australia

Archery Australia is set to receive an uplift in high-performance funding from the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), that will support AA new LA 2028 HP Strategic Plan.  This funding will provide opportunities to support the Olympic and Paralympic programs in preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

For Archery Australia, this funding will:

  • Support athlete preparation and training programs in both Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.
  • Enhance resources for coaching, equipment, and technology.
  • Strengthen the development of pathways for junior and emerging Olympic and paralympic athletes and coaches

This investment ensures that Australian archers have the necessary support to win well and compete at international events and to achieve results on the global stage.

Paralympic Pathways

A key component of this funding is the doubling of investment in Para sports. Archery Australia’s Paralympic athletes have consistently demonstrated excellence, and this additional support will ensure they are well-prepared for future international competitions.

Strategic Vision for the Future

The funding aligns with the ASC’s “Play Well” (Participation) and “Win Well” (High Performance) strategies, which encourage increased programs and participation across all levels and skills in the sport.

“The Play Well and Win Well funding ensures Australians, from grassroots participants to elite athletes, have opportunities to thrive. All sports are central to this vision, inspiring communities and delivering results that make us proud.” ASC CEO Kieren Perkins OAM

Looking Ahead to Brisbane 2032

With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, this investment lays the foundation for a golden decade of sports, nurturing a robust system that fosters talent, enhances participation, and delivers podium success.

“This record $385 million investment in high-performance sport over the next 18 months ensures that our athletes have the support they need to win well, while encouraging broader participation across Australian communities.” Minister for Sport, the Hon Anika Wells

Statement from Peter Bromley, CEO of Archery Australia

“We welcome today’s announcement from the Australian Sports Commission, which represents a significant step forward for archery in Australia. This funding boost is a strong endorsement of the progress our athletes and programs have made and provides us with the resources needed to continue building on that success.

“Our performances in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games demonstrated the potential of Australian archery on the world stage. This investment allows us to strengthen our high-performance pathways, support our athletes, and ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges of the Los Angeles 2028 cycle.

“The ASC’s commitment to doubling Para sport funding is especially encouraging. It reflects the critical role para-athletes play in our sport and the importance of providing equitable opportunities for success. With this funding, we can expand our programs and ensure all athletes have access to the tools and support they need to excel.

“We are grateful to the ASC and the Australian Government for their continued support. This funding gives us the confidence to plan for the future, with our focus on a  ” Win Well ” high-performance strategy as we look ahead to  LA 28 & Brisbane 2032.”
