World Crossbow Target Championship held in South Australia

The 2025 World Crossbow Target Championship was held in Rowland Flat, South Australia, from 18 to 24 March, drawing competitors from across the globe for a week of high-level international competition.

Participating nations included England, Sweden, Estonia, Croatia, India, the USA, and Australia. Despite losing one day of competition due to rain and wind, the Target, Forest, and Bushland rounds were completed as scheduled. The Matchplay section was cancelled to accommodate the weather-affected schedule.

The Australian team delivered an excellent performance on home soil, securing a total of 13 medals:

– 10 individual medals: 3 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze
– 3 team medals: 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze

A total of 44 athletes competed in the event, including 19 Australians and 25 international participants. Competitors ranged in age from 12 to 76 and represented all crossbow types, including Target, Standard, Freestyle, and Medieval.

The event was praised by competitors for its friendly atmosphere and strong organisation. The success of the event was made possible through the efforts of the organising committee, the support of sponsors, and the contribution of volunteers.

At the World Crossbow Shooting Association Council Meeting held during the championship, Estonia was confirmed as the host of the next World Target Championship in 2027. Archery Australia looks forward to supporting a national team at this future event.
