The Australian archery team is eyeing off another possible Rio qualifier after Queensland’s Semra Lingard raced through individual competition at the World Championships in Copenhagen on Wednesday.  25-year-old Lingard is into the final 32 of the women’s recurve competition, after beating Spain’s Miriam Alarcon, and then the highly rated Vietnamese archer, Le Thi Thu Hien, in the first two rounds of elimination.  Lingard, who qualified in 48th position for the elimination rounds, will take on 64th ranked German, Lisa Unruh, for a place in the top 16.  The best eight archers from countries who did not qualify a team for Rio earlier this week will book tickets to next year’s event.  Unlike the men, the Australian women did not qualify their team for Rio, opening the door for Lingard to qualify an individual berth.  2012 London Olympian Taylor Worth is looking strong in the men’s individual competition, with big wins over Fiji’s Robert Elder and Belgium’s Ben Adriaensen on his way to the final 32.  Worth will take on North Korea’s Jon Chol, who beat fellow Australian, Ryan Tyack, to book his showdown with Worth.  The men’s team of Worth, Tyack and Alec Potts earned Australia three places at next year’s Olympics when they finished top eight in the team’s competition on Tuesday.  Australia still has two archers in the non-Olympic compound competition, with Robert Timms and Pat Coghlan both progressing through two rounds of elimination.
