A Day of Medals for Australia at the World Field Championships

Saturday was an exhilarating day for Australia, with three teams competing in the medal matches.
First on the field was the Women’s Team of Alyssa Mollema, Lexie Feeney, and Nicky Fairweather, facing Germany in the Bronze medal match. Our team shot well but couldn’t quite overcome the Germans. Despite the outcome, we are immensely proud of their 4th place finish on the world stage!
Next, the Male U21 team of Alban Thornycroft, Christopher Jackson, and Hugo Lobb battled Czechia for the Gold medal. The team came out strong and maintained their lead throughout, securing a convincing victory to be crowned World Champions. The entire team is thrilled with this remarkable achievement.
Later in the afternoon, the Mixed Recurve team of Ryan Tyack and Lexie Feeney faced Italy in the Gold medal match under challenging wind conditions. The match was tight, with both teams level at the halfway point, but Italy managed to pull ahead in the final targets. A well-earned Silver medal for Australia in the World Championships!
We now eagerly look forward to seeing Ryan, Chris, May, Hugo, and Judah in action in tomorrow’s individual finals.
