2025 National Volunteer of the Year Award – Announcement

This year the Archery Australia Board introduced the National Volunteer of the Year Award to highlight and honour volunteers whose leadership, dedication, and service have made a significant impact on archery in Australia. Archery in Australia would not survive without the dedicated people who give their time, expertise, and passion to help our sport thrive. A number of deserving nominees were received from each RGB accepted ahead of the award being formally presented to the deserving recipient at the Archery Australia AGM.

Archery Australia is delighted to announce Kerry Cheras as the recipient of the 2025 National Volunteer of the Year Award, recognising her outstanding contribution to the sport over the past 12 months.

For over two decades, Kerry has been a driving force at Mt Petrie Bowmen, the South Queensland Archery Society (SQAS), Archery Queensland and Archery Australia. Her volunteer contribution covers every level of the sport from coaching and judging to governance support, event delivery, committee leadership, ranking management, team coordination, and policy development.

She manages the SQAS ranking list, oversees QRE processes, coordinates uniforms and selection for all SQAS teams attending national events, and plays a key role in developing the annual SQAS shooting calendar. As Vice President of SQAS, she constantly steps up to represent the region nationally and has been instrumental in rewriting key policy documents. Kerry also serves as Treasurer for Archery Queensland and was part of the AA organising committee for the 2025 Archery Australia National Target Championships.

Kerry’s steady leadership, reliability, and deep knowledge have made an immeasurable contribution to the archery community. She is a deserving and outstanding recipient of the inaugural Volunteer of the Year Award.
