Member Fee Increase – 2023

Archery Australia Membership Fee Increase:

Since 2016 Archery Australia have been proud to say we haven’t increased our membership fee whilst ensuring we continued to support the Archery community across the country, in particular throughout the pandemic where we were able to provide a number of membership freezes.

However, due to the rising cost of insurance and with our continued investment to upgrading the support and benefits you as a Member receive, at the 2022 Archery Australia AGM all Recognised Governing Bodies (RGBs) voted to increase membership fees from 1 July 2023.

Below are the 2023 Membership Fees (these will be effective from 1 July 2023):

  • Senior Memberships:     from $90.00 to $100.00
  • Junior Memberships:     from $60.00 to $65.00
  • Family Memberships:     from $180.00 to $200.00

What your membership fees go towards?
Your membership fees contribute towards:

  • Insurance
  • Records, badges, and awards
  • Online scoring (Archers Diary)
  • Membership database (SportsTG)
  • Official Education
  • Coach Education
  • Safeguarding
  • National Tournaments and talent pathways
  • Governance and Administration
  • Support for National Compound, Field, Youth and VI teams, uniforms and entry fees for international events and some additional financial support (These individuals/teams are not covered under the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) funding that Archery Australia receives, as this funding must be used for Paralympic and Olympic programs).

This Membership increase will allow us to continue to provide the above benefits along with supporting the below;

  • Online streaming of national events
  • A new volunteer recognition award program
  • Launching Archery’s first national schools’ program to promote our sport and enhance pathways from engagement in schools to joining local clubs
  • Updating the OzBow kits and developing Membership retention models to provide greater Membership support to clubs
  • Online learning platforms for coaches, officials, and club administrators
  • Enhance our financial support of non-AIS funded programs such as support for the World Youth Championships, VI archers at the World Para and VI Championships and the Compound Team at the World Championships.
  • Provider greater support to judges at national events by paying for their accommodation and travel
  • Working on a feasibility project with the Clubs and RGBs to explore a new membership model that will look to be more flexible than just a 12-month option

What your membership fees do not contribute towards:

Your membership fees do not contribute towards any Olympic or Paralympic Archery teams including athlete support, uniforms, staffing or program costs. Archery Australia receives grants from the Australian Sports Commission/ AIS for our Olympic and Paralympic activities and domestic activities. 90% of the grants Archery Australia receives goes towards the High Performance Olympic and Paralympic activities with the other going towards domestic development programs such as the Scouts Program currently happening in three States and the Invictus Australia Program, Australia wide.

Our High Performance Olympic and Paralympic funding is closely monitored by the Sports Commission and we are unable to use any of that funding towards any activity and event that is not tied to either the Olympics or Paralympic programs. The funding we receive is agreed in advance with the Australian Sports Commission for specific programs, roles and events with regular reporting required on any activities and expenditure that takes place.
