Welcome Coach Oh

Exciting coaching appointment for the National Recurve Program

Archery Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of world renown coach Kyomoon Oh (Coach Oh) to the Archery Australia Olympic program coaching staff. We’re excited to have a coach with so much experience behind him to help our athletes in the lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games which commence on July 23 2021.

About Coach Oh

Coach Oh has enjoyed great success as an athlete. He won Silver and Bronze medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and a Gold medal in the teams event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. After retiring as an athlete, Coach Oh began his coaching journey in his homeland of Korea before being appointed as AIS Archery Head Coach in 2006. Coach Oh coached Australian teams for several years before returning to Korea to coach in the Korean professional league. Coach Oh’s latest roles have been as Head Coach of the Korean Womens Team and then most recently the Korean Mens Team.

Where will Coach Oh be based?

Coach Oh will primarily be based in Sydney where along with assisting our Tokyo Olympic preparation, he will oversee the training of our Sydney based National Recurve Program (NRP) athletes and provide support for our National Para Archery Head Coach, Ricci Cheah. Coach Oh will be based at the NSW Institute of Sport offices at Sydney Olympic Park.

Coach Oh will hit the ground running this month and spend several days at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane before attending the annual Australia Day shoot at the Canberra Archery Club 23/24 January.
