Archery Australia are excited to announce the expansion of its Pathways Programs towards the end of this year. The High-Performance Team, led by Pathways Manager, Robert Turner, have been working hard on updating pathways strategies and programs, with an eye on longer-term development of our athletes and coaches.
On the expansion of the program, Robert Turner said, “it is so exciting we have this opportunity as we have seen great talent already engaged in our programs. I am excited to see more young archers have a chance to chase their dreams. This work will aim at aiding archers in moving up our National squads and ultimately win on the world stage.”

In connected news, Archery Australia can also announce the Australian Institute of Sport have approved Strategic Investment Funding for these continued pathway’s plans.
Archery Australia CEO, Rick Hastie said “We are very grateful to again be supported by the Australian Institute of Sport in these crucial pathway’s plans. Our team has been working hard to creating programs to increase the depth of athletes in our sport and create an environment to inspire success. The support from the Australian Institute of Sport will no doubt help us shape the future of our High-Performance archers.”
Paris 2024 Programs
Archery Australia’s Pathways growth first begun in late 2019 with the creation of the Pathways Manager role and would quickly see the creation of the P24 and P24P programs, along with a restructuring of our national Archery Australian Regional Development Program.
The P24 programs have focused on aiding athletes towards the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and saw a range of in person training camps and online learning opportunities available. Athletes in the program have already shown they have potential, going on to win both the individual gold medals in the 2021 Australian Open (recurve), a number representing Australian on the 2022 World Cup circuit, along with one archer even finishing top 8 at the World Archery Para Championships earlier this year.
With the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, a bid for 2026 Comm Games inclusion, a home Games announced for Brisbane in 2032 and new archery programs beginning at NSW Institute of Sport and Victorian Institute of Sport, the growth of our programs is seen as an essential step.
Archery Australia plans to release the growing Pathways programs towards the end of this year, where all aspiring Members who meet the selection criteria will be encouraged to apply.
