Event Preview: World Cup 2 Korea

Thirteen Australian Archers are off to Korea to represent the country at World Cup 2 in Gwangju. Official practice for the event will start on Tuesday 15 May.

Australian Team

Our team was announced in March and since then they’ve been working very hard to prepare for this competition.

Compound

Both teams have had successful training camps leading into the tournament. Our compound team under the guidance of National Compound Coach, Dr Jim Park, headed to Victor Harbor (South Australia) for a few days of intensive shooting to work on matchplay, competition pressure and fine tuning equipment & technique.

Our recurve team was lucky enough to enjoy a training camp in Korea ahead of the World Cup. Shooting at the Kwangju Women’s University Archery Centre in Gwangju, the team was put through their paces under the watchful guidance of National Recurve Coach, Oh Kyo-moon.

Tournament Details

Format

Archers will shoot a 72arrow qualification round in order to than rank the athletes and teams based on score from first place to last.
From here archers will go head-to-head in matchplay where the winner will progress, and the loser of the match will be eliminated. This process will continue until medals are awarded.

  • Wednesday 18 May 2022: Compound Team Matches & Recurve Qualifications
  • Thursday 19 May 2022: Recurve Team Matches and Compound Individual Matches
  • Friday 20 May 2022: Mix Team Matches and Recurve Individual Matches
  • Saturday 21 May 2022: Finals – Compound
  • Sunday 22 May 2022: Finals – Recurve
