London Olympian Taylor Worth has described the positive vibe surrounding the Australian archery team as it prepares for the fourth World Cup event in Medellin, Colombia, this week. Olympic qualification pressure has been lifted from the Australian men’s recurve team following their top eight finish at last month’s World Championships, with attention now turned to jockeying for the three available Rio positions. Four Australian men will compete in Colombia, with three-time Olympian Matt Gray joining the World Championships trio of Worth, Ryan Tyack and Alec Potts. “Training yesterday and today has gone really well for everyone,” Worth said. “We are looking forward to some strong performance from all the members of our team and hopefully we will leave Colombia with at least one medal.” Queensland’s Semra Lingard is the sole Australian woman competing in Medellin. She’s determined to build on her performance at the World Championships, where she narrowly missed an individual Olympic qualification spot for Australia. “It is really exciting to be in South America and I am looking forward to the tournament,” Lingard said. “I am feeling prepared and ready for the tournament.” The Medellin World Cup runs from tomorrow morning through until Monday morning, Australian time. Worth, Tyack, Potts and Lingard will all travel to Rio after Medellin to compete at the Olympic test event.
