Archery Australia Newsletter – BacktoArchery National Tournament and Archers Diary Update
Given the cancellation of all National Events for the remainder of 2020 Archery Australia (AA) is set to launch a National Competition on-line, that will allow archers to re-engage with competitive archery at their local club without the need to travel.
The Tournament is open to all archers no matter what their ability, showing placings via both raw score and by scores calculated using an individual’s AA handicap.
The Event:
The tournament will be conducted across six (6) weekends commencing in September and finishing in December 2020. The tournament will be open to all Archery Australia Members.
The rounds to be shot will be WA60/900, Short Canberra and Junior Canberra.
The above rounds have been selected as they prove to be the most popular within our archery community. Of the six event dates, an archer’s best two (2) scores will be used to calculate their position on the competition table. This will mean an archer can shoot all, or just two events being held to be considered for any awards, this will allow all competitors an opportunity to participate and hopefully ensure weather or future restrictions do not have an impact on the final standings.
The shortest distance to be shot will be the Short Canberra. Cubs wishing to participate in the National Competition will need to shoot this distance. Clubs are able to choose anywhere between two and six dates from the following weekends:
September
Week 1 Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th
October
Week 2 Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th
Week 3 Saturday 24th or Sunday 25th
November
Week 4 Saturday 7th or Sunday 8th
Week 5 Saturday 21st or Sunday 22nd
December
Week 6 Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th
There will be no fee Archery Australia fee to enter and medals will be awarded to the top three archers in each division. Further details, including registration details will be sent out directly to clubs on Tuesday 1st September 2020.
Archers Diary Update
Important information regarding Archers Diary & iScored
Following on from last weeks Archers Diary update (Click Here):
It has come to our attention that the new version of iScored.today is not fully compatible with older iPhone and iPad devices that are using the latest version of iOS (13.x) – the minimum iOS version required to run the new iScored.today application is iOS 11.
If this is the case on your device it will be represented on the main page where the “cogs” icon will turn red:
If this is the case, then the application will continue to work, but only while connected to the Internet. If the Internet connection drops, it is possible that the application will fail to load until reconnected – preventing the archer from scoring. Entered scores will not be lost, and can be recovered after reconnecting to the Internet.
To accommodate those archers with older devices and require the ability to score offline, we are making the older V2 version available.
This older version will not contain any of the newer features, and at some point will become unsupported by the devices, this is outside of our control, and is the reason we have had to move to new technology.
