2023 Pacific Games

2023 Pacific Games

Dear Archery Australia Community,

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has formally approved the 2023 Pacific Games Archery Nomination and Selection Criteria. With this crucial milestone achieved, we can now publish the selection criteria on our website and include it in this newsletter.

The Pacific Games, a vibrant multi-sport event hosting 25 distinct sports, is held every four years. We are thrilled to announce that the upcoming 2023 Games will be staged in the beautiful city of Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Archery enthusiasts, mark your calendars for 21-24 November 2023, as those are the dates set for the Archery event.

In these games, both Recurve and Compound athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their prowess. Moreover, the stakes are high this time, as the Recurve Mixed Teams event carries two Olympic quotas – one for Male and one for Female. The victorious country in this event will secure their place in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, highlighting the significant impact and potential of the Pacific Games on athletes’ Olympic dreams.

The selection and management of the team for the Pacific Games fall under the purview of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC). All athletes who earn the honour of being selected will become a part of the Australian Pacific Games Team, gaining the full support and guidance of the AOC.

Given the weight and significance of the Pacific Games, we are pleased to announce that the Recurve athletes’ participation costs will be covered through the AIS HP Grants. However, athletes selected for the Compound events will be responsible for self funding. for this event.

We look forward to witnessing our athletes’ performances at the Pacific Games, paving their way towards the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

We encourage our community to support and cheer on our archers as they embark on this thrilling journey.
