2022 Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships

India will be hosting the inaugural Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships in Chandigarh, in January, 2022 (dates to be confirmed) (Chandigarh 2022).  While the Championships have the endorsement of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) they are not part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games which will be held in Birmingham, England from July 27 to August 5, 2022 (Birmingham 2022).

Selection Policy – Update

Archery Australia are looking to enter teams in all Recurve (70m) and Compound (50m) events to be contested in Chandigarh 2022. Athletes will be Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championship participants. They will not be Commonwealth Games athletes or alumni as the event is not a part of Birmingham 2022. Chandigarh 2022 is a separately funded and organised event.

Athletes selected do not form any part of the 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games Team and are not entitled to receive any financial support from either Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) or the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Chandigarh 2022 is recognised by the two International Federations (World Archery and the International Shooting Sport Federation) and will for the first time in the Commonwealth Sport Movement’s history will have results that account for ranking points, records and potentially qualification points for other major IF events. Records will not be regarded as Commonwealth Games records or added to the Commonwealth Games results database as the event is not part of the Commonwealth Games. Results will be recognised by the CGF as Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championship results.

It is acknowledged that the results from these Championships do not contribute to the official medal table at Birmingham 2022.
