National Volunteer Week – THANK YOU!

This week is National Volunteer Week and everyone at Archery Australia would like to say thank you to the incredible workforce of volunteers across Australia that is the mainstay of our wonderful sport and what keeps us going. A lot of time and work is dedicated to the behind the scene works at club and RGB level and a huge thank you for all you do for archery.

The last few months have been unprecedented for many of us, but the support and work of our volunteers across Australia during this time has reinforced that our community is something we should all be proud to be a part of!

Thank you!

State by State Guidelines – COVID-19

The safety and wellbeing of the archery community remains our top priority, and Archery Australia will continue to follow the Federal and State Government guidelines relating to COVID-19.

We can appreciate that this is a frustrating time as we work through the different levels of activities permitted in each State, but we urge clubs to work closely with their RGB to ensure State restrictions are being followed.

Archery Australia’s guidelines on the first phase of rebooting archery into the community can be found here

Archers Diary Upgrade:

The IT Committee for some time now has been working on a newer version of Archers Diary. This newer version will be more compatible with the mobile devices that many people are using to view the Archers Diary information. There are also a number of enhancements that are being incorporated in Manage.iscored.today

These will offer improved record handling for RGBs, the ability for club recorders to view an archers rating (both current and historical) and overall improved operations.

Archery Australia will keep members and recorders updated when the version is set to be released in a few weeks’ time.

2020 National Indoor Championships:

The 2020 National Indoor Championships has unfortunately had to be cancelled. This decision wasn’t taken lightly, however, due to the numbers involved and with it anticipated that not all states will have lifted all restrictions by mid-July, the decision was taken to give everyone as much notice as possible.

Archery Australia will be facilitating an alternative national competition once restrictions permit later in the year (hopefully in late August/September 2020). This will be designed along a ‘Club Challenge’ style event where archers and clubs can compete in a national competition in their own environment. More details on this to follow.

Paris24 Pathways Program:

Archery Australia, in conjunction with the AIS Performance Pathways unit, is delighted to announce the establishment of the Paris24 Pathways Program. The Paris24 program is designed to fast track identified Archers who demonstrate the required talent and commitment to train towards selection in the Australian team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The program will be managed by HP Pathways Manager Robert Turner who has significant experience in identifying, developing and coaching international Archers.

The Paris24 program will provide camp, competition and ongoing learning opportunities for Archers selected in the initial squad and the program for the next 18 months will be finalised once we have a better idea of any ongoing domestic and international travel restrictions that may be in place due to COVID-19.

The initial Paris24 pathways squad will be targeted specifically at the Paris 2024 Olympics however, if there is sufficient interest from junior/youth athletes, a second squad targeted at qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games will be established. Currently the program is only open to Olympic discipline Archers, however the program will be expanded to include prospective Paralympic Archers later in the year.
